Originally discovered in 1821 by Sir J. Richardson, and considered a lost species, until 1879 when rediscovered at Caroline Park and Joppa by GWT (= George W. Traill) at the extreme limit of low water of spring tides on muddy sandstone rocks somewhat in the shade.
