Black coloured Orkney vole.
The Orkney Vole is the only wild animal peculiar to Orkney. The vole looks different from a mouse or a shrew by being more squat and stumpy. A blunt, oval head and short rounded ears. The most common colour is a darkish brown but can be seen in black, some islands have lighter coloured voles.
