Deer hide knife sheath, with its porcupine quill sewn bands, tear drop design, and wrapped fringes was most likely made for sale.  This piece may have been acquired by William Watt during the latter stages of his career, when he was based at posts that would have been visited by Cree families from the prairie region.

Front panel decorated with red, blue (almost completely faded) and white quillwork in a line and three petal design. Three separate fringes - one from the front panel, one at the side of the case, attached to the panel and one at the tapered end. The fringe on the front panel has loops at the ends in red, faded blue and white. All fringes have quill wrapping in white quills to give a striped effect. There is a simple loop on the back to attach knife to a belt.
