Wicker basket for storing herring. It was then used as a basket for storing long line fishing lines in. It was given a cork rim store the hooks. They would be fed out of the basket as the boat went along. This saved the fishing line and hooks getting entangled. This basket has no side handles but a rope looped from one side of the rim to the other.
