Zoology
Class: Bivalvia. 6 specimens, all with both valves present and attached. Fairly large, sub-circular with many clear concentric ridges and growth lines. White or off white in colour with a small number of large bands or 'rays' of white, pink or brown radiating from the umbo. One of the smaller specimens appears to have a predation hole in its surface, potentially from a carnivorous species such as a dog whelk. This species burrows into course sand and gravels and can be found in the intertidal zone but rarely below 100m deep.
