Class: Cephalopoda. 1 specimen. The beak of the octopus. Two parts that fit together i.e. the dorsal (upper) and ventral (lower) mandible. The upper fits inside the lower. The beak is a dark reddish brown colour, darkest at the 'point' of the beak. The octopus itself is red or brown in colour and large with slender, tapered tentacles with a single row of suckers. They live in the lower shore and the sublittoral zone around rocky coasts. They inhabit all the British and Irish seas.
