Ethnography
Eight scarab beetle beads from Ancient Egypt. Six small turquoise coloured, one clay coloured and one white. All have the pattern of the shell of the scarab beetle as decoration.
NMS East Asia Review: The look of the material and their inscriptions indicates that they are modern manufactures for the tourist market in the late 1800s into the 20th Century. Scarabs were and are common souvenirs as they are stereotypically Egyptian, including hieroglyph.
