Cree seamstresses in the James Bay region made spectacularly decorated ceremonial hoods, which were worn for special occasions, such as marriage or when an important hunt returned to the camp.  The glass beads were sewn to the cloth using commercial thread, and all of the materials would have been available at HBC trading posts.

Possibly made by the same woman who made the leggings (1991.L9). Similar five petal-flower motif. Floral design. Red and blue stroud tassel at point. Trimmed with long beaded fringe of red, white, turquoise and blue beads, with a looped end. These beads are strung onto sinew. Lined with brown velvet. Blue ribbon tip at edge.
