Crafts for Christmas

18 December 2020 to 31 January 2021

Stromness Museum's elves have been busy creating some simple craft activities for you to do with your families over the festive period.  2020 has been a tough year for many and we have missed providing face-to-face craft activities for you.  These activities will bring some Christmas cheer to your home on a Stromness Museum theme.

Mini Winter Hats

Our Winter Hat craft is very straightforward, and made using only a few simple materials you can find around the home.  The colours on our mini winter hat are inspired by the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) point blankets in our collection.  Did you know 2020 is the 350th anniversary of the HBC, which employed so many Orcadians.

Peedie Hoose Luminaries

We've created  templates for these beautiful illuminated paper houses, for you to cut out and decorate at home.  They are inspired by Stromness Primary School's 'Our Hometown' mural, created by the P7 class of 2017-18.   The mural features buildings from Stromness, with their unique architectural features, drawn by the children.
